What is mediaton?
Living together often means sharing good times. However, it can also be a source of disputes or communication problems e.g. between neighbours or acquaintances.
Proximity mediation is a free service offered to the inhabitants of the municipality. The goal is to help them out of unpleasant conflictual situations.
The mediator is neutral, independent and impartial. He’s never choosing sides and never settling a dispute. The mediator is someone who tries to bring the parties together, so they can talk and listen to one another. By doing so, the mediator will try to establish a solution that is suitable and satisfying for all parties involved.
Mediation is a strict confidential and voluntary process.
In what cases can I use the mediation service?
Every conflict between people can be subject to mediation. However, the proximity mediator is usually intervening in:
- neighbours disputes
- disputes between landlords and tenants
- noise nuisance
- communication difficulties within families, relationships, friendships etc.
Why choosing mediation?
Mediation is an alternative form of dispute resolution. This means the disputed can be resolved without going to court. A legal procedure can take long and may cost a lot of money. In addition, you are sure to be heard in a mediation process. By speaking up, you participate directly in the decision making. Last but not least, the process is strictly confidential.
